About Kara Berlin

With over 15 years practicing as a leader in women’s health, Kara Berlin, CNM, APRN-Rx, wears many hats at Pali Women’s Health Center. Kara serves as a certified nurse midwife, family nurse practitioner, and board-certified lactation consultant at the practice’s locations in Kailua, Laie, and Kapolei, Hawaii.

After completing her Bachelor of Arts in anthropology at the University of California, Davis, Kara served as a member of the United States Peace Corps. During her service, Kara gained an interest in women’s health issues and worked as a volunteer with the women’s co-op in a small village in Tanzania.

Kara was inspired to help women take control of their bodies and health and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in nursing through Oregon Health & Science University in Portland. To further be able to help her patients, Kara then finished her Master of Nursing in nurse midwifery through the same institution.

Throughout her career, Kara has worked extensively in women’s health clinics, focusing on labor and delivery, postpartum and prenatal care, midwifery, and lactation consulting. Kara’s mission is to do better for her patients and to help women feel educated and empowered while making health care decisions.

Outside of the clinic, Kara and her husband stay busy raising their five boys, which includes a set of twins. Because of her own unique experiences with childbirth, postpartum needs, and breastfeeding, Kara can easily connect with her patients and guide them through the transition from childbirth to motherhood.

When Kara has free time, she participates in CrossFit®, weightlifting, and swimming. She also enjoys watching her boys surf, paddle, and skate.
