Vaginal Rejuvenation Specialist

A very common outcome of childbirth and the natural aging process is vaginal relaxation. The all-female medical team at Pali Women's Health Center and MediSpa understands how vaginal relaxation affects the quality of life and relationships. They help patients in Kailua, Hawaii, through the MonaLisa Touch® vaginal rejuvenation procedure.

Vaginal Rejuvenation Q & A

What does vaginal rejuvenation mean?

Vaginal rejuvenation is the term used for reconstructive surgery designed to tighten and restore the inner and outer vagina, essentially undoing the changes caused by age and childbirth.

How many treatments are required?

Most patients notice improvement after 1 treatment. However, the staff at Pali Women’s Health Center recommend 3 treatments (with a minimum of 60 days between treatments) for the most dramatic results. Patients see the final outcome about 6 weeks following their 3rd treatment.

What is MonaLisa Touch?

MonaLisa Touch, an innovative vaginal reconstruction method, uses a CO2 laser to stimulate collagen production in the vagina. This new collagen allows the reformation process to begin in a natural way, allowing the body to heal and restore itself. MonaLisa Touch is non-invasive.

What symptoms can be alleviated by the procedure?

The procedure alleviates symptoms caused by vaginal relaxation or vaginal atrophy, including:

  • Decreased sexual stimulation and satisfaction due to decrease in friction
  • Lack of muscle tone in vaginal muscles
  • An appearance of a “gaping” vaginal opening
  • Popping or gas noises coming from the vagina
  • Tissue that is visible outside the labia
  • Problems moving bowels out of the body
  • Difficulty keeping tampons in

Many women report improved quality of life and improved sex life following their vaginal reconstruction.

How long does the procedure take?

The MonaLisa Touch procedure takes a few minutes to perform. Other procedures will vary depending on the exact nature of the procedure

Who can perform the procedure?

Vaginal surgery is best performed by gynecologists who specialize in pelvic surgery.

Will insurance cover vaginal rejuvenation?

Generally speaking, no. Vaginal rejuvenation is considered an elective cosmetic procedure much like a breast augmentation. Some patients pay cash for the procedure, but most patients finance the procedure through a credit card or personal loan.
